9 – Michelangelo

One of the most well known artists of the Renaissance along with Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, besides being a painter, was also a sculptor and a famous architect. His style of painting and sculpture together with his careful choice of subject matter have influenced many artists over time, making him one of the most influential personalities in history. Two of his most famous works are the painted ceiling of the Sistine Capel in Vatican City and the sculpture of David.
