12 – Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus is known for his discovery of the ”New World” of the Americas that we know today. While doing an expedition under the spanish flag, Columbus was told to discover a new passage and route to India. After sailing across the Altlantic Ocean, he spent several years in the Caribbean Islands and South America and he made 4 voyages between Spain and the locations he discovered. Altough credited for his work on all the discoveries, Columbus was also blamed for opening the gates for the European colonization of the Americas.
