Dorothy Hodgkin was an important figure in the field of chemistry and was also the third woman to win a Nobel Prize. This British-born scientist was a pioneer in the field of X-ray crystallography where she was able to confirm the structures of several biological molecules including penicillin, insulin and Vitamin B12. She received her Nobel Prize in 1964 and was the only British woman to receive it.
