One of the most influential scientists of all time, Isaac Newton is known for the groundbreaking discovery of gravity and his works in the area of physics and thermodynamics. Throughout his life, he devised a great number of experiments to prove the principles of gravity and he also devised the three laws of motion. He is considered a key figure in the Scientific Revolution and has influenced many later scientists including Einstein. In his late life, Newton was punished by the Church and put on house arrest for the rest of his life, just because his ideas and scientific thinking was believed to be blasphemous on religious grounds.
