Jamestown was one of the first settlements made in the United States, it was also where its inhabitants were believed to have consumed meat from each other due to lack of food. Until 2014, these stories were not supported by any evidence until the discovery of a skeleton of a female named Jane, when marks consistent with cannibalism were found and changed the whole perspective. This discovery has since been accepted as proof of the existence of cannibalism in the early settlements at Jamestown.
